How to Set Family Rules

Establishing family rules can be difficult if not approached with consistency. Every family needs rules that define behavior and maintain order. Each member has a responsibility to follow these rules to the letter.

One of the first things suggested is that these rules reflect your core family values as well as your spouse’s. These rules should be thought of very carefully before putting them on display. It is important to ask yourself what would make the house run smoother. With the establishment of these rules, children now know what is expected of them and this list will guarantee order in the home. The guarantee comes from the consistency while handing out certain consequences and punishments when these rules are broken.

Rules in the house give kids the freedom to push the envelope without breaking any rules. They say that this freedom is somewhat enlightening.
